The Opening of the ABC exhibition

As promised, here are some photos of the books at Wrapt in Rocky! Our exhibition opened on the first night of the forum. The new library at the Rockhampton Girl's Grammar school was a fitting place for the books to be exhibited. There was a great deal of interest shown in the books themselves as well as how the collaboration worked. It was great to have four collaborators present at the opening, Tamara, Olley, Nanette and myself. We got a real buzz from hearing the ooohs and aaaahs as people donned gloves to look inside the books....there were people looking over each others shoulders to enjoy the artwork and the uniqueness that each book had to offer!
We can all be proud of our participation in the ABC....well done to each of you! And thanks for so willingly sending your very special books off to me after only having had them in your own hands for such a short time!

I'm looking forward to the next one now!

  1. Peta, congratulations. We have all benefited in many different ways from this collaboration that you have set up. I think you have done an excellent job, and I would love to work with you again. It is not an inexpensive thing to do an altered book as we have done, with all the postage required. So a great thank you to everyone for participating, and making it so enjoyable for the group.

  2. Let me second that motion!! These photos make me wish I'd been there even more than I was already wishing I was there!

Thanks Peta, and everyone, for what has been a wonderful to all, Tracey.x

  3. WoW!! Looks even better than my wildest imaginings!! I would also like to thank everyone involved again and especially Peta! You are an inspiration! Peta, I hope your workshop went well with keith... Could you possibly upload what you did? Lots of love, donna

  4. Thanks for your positive comments girls! the ABC exhibition certainly proved to be a hit with the particpants at Wrapt in Rocky.....I had a fantastic time in Keith's class.....I will take some photos of what I am still working on and post them up on the blog....there is still so much I can learn when working with found 3D stuff, assemblage is a very exciting medium!

  5. It looks like a fantastic event Peta... well done! I wish I could have been there too but we'll get our opportunity in Brissy. Thank you for introducing me to this amazing concept of artists books and thank you everyone for your fabulous contributions. The collaboration was well organised and supportive, a credit to you Peta, and one experience I would love to do again. JenX

  6. Jen, It has been an amazing experience for me too... credit must also go to each and every artist in the collaboration for their cooperation, enthusiasm and creativity, as well as their willingness to share their beautiful books with others....I'm certainly looking forward to a future collaboration....I think that maybe collaborative artists'/altered books are addictive!
thanks for your positive feedback Jen! x Peta
